The Yoke of Babylon

27 At the beginning of the reign of Zedekiah[a] son of Josiah, king of Judah, this word came to Jeremiah from the Lord:[b] “This is what the Lord said to me: Make chains and yoke bars(A) for yourself and put them on your neck. Send word to the king of Edom, the king of Moab, the king of the Ammonites, the king of Tyre, and the king of Sidon(B) through messengers who are coming to Zedekiah king of Judah in Jerusalem.

27 Early in the rule of Judah’s King Zedekiah,[a] Josiah’s son, this word came to Jeremiah from the Lord: This is what the Lord said to me: Make a yoke of straps and bars and wear it on your neck. Then send word[b] to the kings of Edom, Moab, Ammon, Tyre, and Sidon through their representatives who have come to Jerusalem to Judah’s King Zedekiah.
