Jeremiah 1

1 The words of Jeremiah son of Hilkiah, of the priests who were in Anathoth in the land of Benjamin, 2 to whom the word of the Lord came in the days of King Josiah son of Amon of Judah, in the thirteenth year of his reign. 3 It came also in the days of King Jehoiakim son of Josiah of Judah, and until the end of the eleventh year of King Zedekiah son of Josiah of Judah, until the captivity of Jerusalem in the fifth month.
Jeremiah’s Call and Commission
4 Now the word of the Lord came to me saying,
5 “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you,
and before you were born I consecrated you;
I appointed you a prophet to the nations.”
6 Then I said, “Ah, Lord God! Truly I do not know how to speak, for I am only a boy.” 7 But the Lord said to me,
“Do not say, ‘I am only a boy’;
for you shall go to all to whom I send you,
and you shall speak whatever I command you.
8 Do not be afraid of them,
for I am with you to deliver you,
says the Lord.”
9 Then the Lord put out his hand and touched my mouth; and the Lord said to me,
“Now I have put my words in your mouth.
10 See, today I appoint you over nations and over kingdoms,
to pluck up and to pull down,
to destroy and to overthrow,
to build and to plant.”
11 The word of the Lord came to me, saying, “Jeremiah, what do you see?” And I said, “I see a branch of an almond tree.”[a] 12 Then the Lord said to me, “You have seen well, for I am watching[b] over my word to perform it.” 13 The word of the Lord came to me a second time, saying, “What do you see?” And I said, “I see a boiling pot, tilted away from the north.”
14 Then the Lord said to me: Out of the north disaster shall break out on all the inhabitants of the land. 15 For now I am calling all the tribes of the kingdoms of the north, says the Lord; and they shall come and all of them shall set their thrones at the entrance of the gates of Jerusalem, against all its surrounding walls and against all the cities of Judah. 16 And I will utter my judgments against them, for all their wickedness in forsaking me; they have made offerings to other gods, and worshiped the works of their own hands. 17 But you, gird up your loins; stand up and tell them everything that I command you. Do not break down before them, or I will break you before them. 18 And I for my part have made you today a fortified city, an iron pillar, and a bronze wall, against the whole land—against the kings of Judah, its princes, its priests, and the people of the land. 19 They will fight against you; but they shall not prevail against you, for I am with you, says the Lord, to deliver you.

11 (C)Poi la parola del Signore mi fu rivolta in questi termini: «Geremia, che cosa vedi?» Io risposi: «Vedo un ramo di mandorlo[a]». 12 E il Signore mi disse: «Hai visto bene, poiché io vigilo[b] sulla mia parola per mandarla a effetto».
13 La parola del Signore mi fu rivolta per la seconda volta: «Che cosa vedi?» Io risposi: «Vedo una gran pentola che bolle e ha la bocca rivolta dal settentrione in qua». 14 E il Signore mi disse: «Dal settentrione verrà fuori la calamità su tutti gli abitanti del paese. 15 Poiché, ecco, io sto per chiamare tutti i popoli dei regni del settentrione», dice il Signore; «essi verranno e porranno ognuno il suo trono all’ingresso delle porte di Gerusalemme, contro tutte le sue mura all’intorno e contro tutte le città di Giuda. 16 Pronuncerò i miei giudizi contro di loro[c] a causa di tutta la loro malvagità, perché mi hanno abbandonato e hanno offerto il loro incenso ad altri dèi e si sono prostrati davanti all’opera delle loro mani. 17 Tu, dunque, cingiti i fianchi, àlzati e di’ loro tutto quello che io ti comanderò. Non lasciarti sgomentare da loro, affinché io non ti renda sgomento in loro presenza. 18 Ecco, oggi io ti stabilisco come una città fortificata, come una colonna di ferro e come un muro di bronzo contro tutto il paese, contro i re di Giuda, contro i suoi prìncipi, contro i suoi sacerdoti e contro il popolo del paese. 19 Essi ti faranno la guerra, ma non ti vinceranno, perché io sono con te per liberarti», dice il Signore.

Der Herr beruft Jeremia und gibt ihm seinen Auftrag
1 Die Worte Jeremias, des Sohnes Hilkias, von den Priestern, die in Anatot im Land Benjamin wohnten,
2 an welchen das Wort des Herrn erging in den Tagen Josias, des Sohnes Amons, des Königs von Juda, im dreizehnten Jahr seiner Regierung,
3 und auch in den Tagen Jojakims, des Sohnes Josias, des Königs von Juda, bis zum Ende des elften Jahres Zedekias, des Sohnes Josias, des Königs von Juda, bis zur Wegführung Jerusalems im fünften Monat.
4 Und das Wort des Herrn erging an mich folgendermaßen[a]:
5 Ehe ich dich im Mutterleib bildete, habe ich dich ersehen[b], und bevor du aus dem Mutterschoß hervorkamst, habe ich dich geheiligt; zum Propheten für die Völker habe ich dich bestimmt!
6 Da sprach ich: Ach, Herr, Herr[c], siehe, ich kann nicht reden, denn ich bin noch zu jung[d]!
7 Aber der Herr sprach zu mir: Sage nicht: »Ich bin zu jung«; sondern du sollst zu allen hingehen, zu denen ich dich sende, und du sollst alles reden, was ich dir gebiete!
8 Fürchte dich nicht vor ihnen[e]! Denn ich bin mit dir, um dich zu erretten, spricht der Herr[f].
9 Und der Herr streckte seine Hand aus und rührte meinen Mund an; und der Herr sprach zu mir: Siehe, ich lege meine Worte in deinen Mund!
10 Siehe, ich setze dich am heutigen Tag über die Völker und über die Königreiche ein, um auszurotten und niederzureißen, und um zu zerstören und abzubrechen, um zu bauen und zu pflanzen.
11 Und das Wort des Herrn erging an mich folgendermaßen: Was siehst du, Jeremia? Da sprach ich: Ich sehe den Zweig eines Wächterbaumes[g].
12 Da sprach der Herr zu mir: Du hast recht gesehen; denn ich werde über meinem Wort wachen, um es auszuführen!
13 Und das Wort des Herrn erging zum zweiten Mal an mich: Was siehst du? Da antwortete ich: Ich sehe einen siedenden Topf, der kommt von Norden her!
14 Und der Herr sprach zu mir: Von Norden her wird das Unheil über alle Bewohner des Landes entfesselt werden.
15 Denn siehe, ich rufe alle Geschlechter der Königreiche des Nordens, spricht der Herr, damit sie kommen und jeder seinen Thron aufstellt vor den Toren Jerusalems und gegen alle seine Mauern ringsum und gegen alle Städte Judas;
16 und ich will mein Urteil über sie fällen wegen all ihrer Bosheit, dass sie mich verlassen haben und anderen Göttern Räucherwerk dargebracht und die Werke ihrer Hände angebetet haben.
17 Du aber, gürte deine Lenden,[h] mache dich auf und rede zu ihnen alles, was ich dir gebieten werde! Sei nicht verzagt vor ihnen, damit ich dich nicht vor ihnen verzagt mache!
18 Siehe, ich mache dich heute zu einer festen Stadt und zu einer eisernen Säule und zu einer ehernen Mauer gegen das ganze Land, gegen die Könige von Juda, gegen ihre Fürsten, gegen ihre Priester und gegen das Volk des Landes;
19 sie werden zwar gegen dich kämpfen, aber sie werden dich nicht überwältigen; denn ich bin mit dir, spricht der Herr, um dich zu erretten!

Jeremiás származása és elhívása
1 Ezek Jeremiásnak, Hilkijjá fiának beszédei, aki a Benjámin törzsi területén fekvő, Anatótban élő papok családjából származott.[a] 2 Jósiás, Ámón fia, Júda királya uralkodásának 13. évétől kezdve[b] szólt az Örökkévaló Jeremiáshoz. 3 Majd beszélt vele Jójákim, Jósiás fia, Júda királya idejében, továbbá egészen Cidkijjá, Jósiás fia, Júda királya uralkodásának 11. évéig, amikor az 5. hónapban Jeruzsálemet az ellenség lerombolta, és annak lakóit száműzetésbe hurcolta.
4 Az Örökkévaló megszólított:
5 „Mielőtt az anyaméhben megformáltalak,
már ismertelek téged.
Még meg sem születtél,
én már különválasztottalak magamnak,
hogy a nemzetek prófétája legyél.”
6 De én ezt válaszoltam: Jaj, Örökkévaló Úr Isten! Nem vagyok én járatos a nyilvános beszédben, még olyan fiatal vagyok!
7 Akkor az Örökkévaló ezt felelte:
„Ne mondd, hogy túl fiatal vagy,
csak menj, ahová küldelek,
és mondd el mindazt, amit parancsolok!
8 Ne félj azoktól, akikhez menned kell,
mert én vagyok veled,
hogy megmentselek a kezükből!”
— az Örökkévaló mondja ezt neked.
9 Majd az Örökkévaló kinyújtotta kezét, megérintette a számat, és ezt mondta:
„Saját szavaimat adtam most a szádba!
10 Ezáltal a mai napon felvigyázóvá teszlek,
nemzetek és királyságok fölé állítalak,
hogy gyökerestül kitépj, lerombolj, elpusztíts, szétszórj,
s hogy építs fel, és ültess el.”
11 Majd az Örökkévaló ezt kérdezte tőlem: „Jeremiás, mit látsz?”

12 „Helyes — mondta az Örökkévaló —, jól láttad, mert én éberen őrködöm[c] azon, hogy amit mondok, azt véghez is vigyem.”

17 Jeremiás, készülj föl, indulj el, és hirdesd ki nekik mindazt, amit neked parancsolok! Meg ne rémülj tőlük, különben én rémítelek meg általuk!

L’appel de Jérémie
4 L’Eternel m’adressa la parole en ces termes :
5 Avant de t’avoir formé dans le sein de ta mère, je t’ai choisi ; et avant ta naissance, je t’ai consacré : je t’ai destiné à être prophète pour les peuples.
6 Je répondis : Hélas, Seigneur Eternel, je ne sais pas m’exprimer, car je suis un adolescent.
7 Mais l’Eternel me répondit :
Ne dis pas : « Je suis un adolescent » ; tu iras trouver tous ceux auprès de qui je t’enverrai, et tu leur diras tout ce que je t’ordonnerai. 8 N’aie pas peur de ces gens, car je suis avec toi pour te délivrer, l’Eternel le déclare.
9 Alors l’Eternel tendit la main et me toucha la bouche, et il me dit : Tu vois : je mets mes paroles dans ta bouche. 10 Sache que je te confie aujourd’hui une mission envers les peuples et les royaumes : celle d’arracher et de renverser, de ruiner et de détruire, de construire et de planter[d].

11 L’Eternel m’adressa encore la parole en ces termes : Que vois-tu, Jérémie ?
Je répondis : Je vois une branche d’amandier.
12 – Tu as bien vu, me dit l’Eternel. Eh bien, je veille[e] sur ma parole pour accomplir ce que j’ai dit.
13 Puis l’Eternel m’adressa une seconde fois la parole : Que vois-tu encore ?
Et je répondis : Je vois un chaudron en train de bouillir et qui se trouve au nord.
14 Et l’Eternel me dit :
C’est, en effet, du nord[f] |que le malheur viendra
se déverser |sur tous les habitants de ce pays.
15 Car je vais appeler |tous les peuples des royaumes du Nord,
l’Eternel le déclare.
Ils viendront, et chacun |installera son trône
devant les portes de Jérusalem,
face à tous ses remparts,
et à tous ceux |des villes de Juda.
16 Et je rendrai mon jugement |contre les habitants de ce pays
pour tout le mal qu’ils ont commis ;
parce qu’ils m’ont abandonné,
qu’ils offrent de l’encens |à d’autres dieux,

17 Toi donc, tu mettras ta ceinture[g]

18 Et moi dès aujourd’hui, |je fais de toi |comme une ville fortifiée,
comme un pilier de fer |et un rempart de bronze |face à tout le pays :
face aux rois de Juda, |à ses ministres,

19 Ils te feront la guerre,
mais ils ne l’emporteront pas sur toi,
