6 For he shall be (A)like a shrub in the desert,
And (B)shall not see when good comes,
But shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness,
(C)In a salt land which is not inhabited.
7 “Blessed(D) is the man who trusts in the Lord,
And whose hope is the Lord.
8 For he shall be (E)like a tree planted by the waters,
Which spreads out its roots by the river,
And will not [a]fear when heat comes;
But its leaf will be green,
And will not be anxious in the year of drought,
Nor will cease from yielding fruit.

6 That person will be like a bush in the wastelands;
they will not see prosperity when it comes.
They will dwell in the parched places(A) of the desert,
in a salt(B) land where no one lives.
7 “But blessed(C) is the one who trusts(D) in the Lord,
whose confidence is in him.
8 They will be like a tree planted by the water
that sends out its roots by the stream.(E)
It does not fear when heat comes;
its leaves are always green.
It has no worries in a year of drought(F)
and never fails to bear fruit.”(G)
