² They shall spread them before the sun and the moon and all the host of heaven, which they have loved and which they have served and after which they have walked, which they have sought and ^(A)which they have worshiped. They shall not be gathered ^(B)nor buried; they shall be like refuse on the face of the earth.

⁵ Then he removed the idolatrous priests whom the kings of Judah had ordained to burn incense on the high places in the cities of Judah and in the places all around Jerusalem, and those who burned incense to Baal, to the sun, to the moon, to the ^[a]constellations, and to ^(A)all the host of heaven.

⁴² Then ^(A)God turned and gave them up to worship ^(B)the host of heaven, as it is written in the book of the Prophets:

²² Speak, “Thus says the Lord:

¹⁶ So He brought me into the inner court of the Lord’s house; and there, at the door of the temple of the Lord, ^(A)between the porch and the altar, ^(B)were about twenty-five men ^(C)with their backs toward the temple of the Lord and their faces toward the east, and they were worshiping ^(D)the sun toward the east.

³⁰ Therefore thus says the Lord concerning Jehoiakim king of Judah: ^(A)“He shall have no one to sit on the throne of David, and his dead body shall be ^(B)cast out to the heat of the day and the frost of the night.

¹³ And the houses of Jerusalem and the houses of the kings of Judah shall be defiled ^(A)like the place of Tophet, because of all the houses on whose ^(B)roofs they have burned incense to all the host of heaven, and ^(C)poured out drink offerings to other gods.” ’ ”
