¹⁰ and then come and stand^(A) before me in this house,^(B) which bears my Name, and say, “We are safe”—safe to do all these detestable things?^(C)

³⁴ They set up their vile images^(A) in the house that bears my Name^(B) and defiled^(C) it.

³⁹ On the very day they sacrificed their children to their idols, they entered my sanctuary and desecrated^(A) it. That is what they did in my house.^(B)

¹⁵ Recently you repented and did what is right in my sight: Each of you proclaimed freedom to your own people.^(A) You even made a covenant before me in the house that bears my Name.^(B)

³⁰ “‘The people of Judah have done evil^(A) in my eyes, declares the Lord. They have set up their detestable idols^(B) in the house that bears my Name and have defiled^(C) it.

¹⁴ Therefore, what I did to Shiloh^(A) I will now do to the house that bears my Name,^(B) the temple^(C) you trust in, the place I gave to you and your ancestors.

¹¹ Has this house,^(A) which bears my Name, become a den of robbers^(B) to you? But I have been watching!^(C) declares the Lord.

Jesus Before Pilate^(A)

²⁸ Then the Jewish leaders took Jesus from Caiaphas to the palace of the Roman governor.^(B) By now it was early morning, and to avoid ceremonial uncleanness they did not enter the palace,^(C) because they wanted to be able to eat the Passover.^(D)

²⁶ Jesus answered, “It is the one to whom I will give this piece of bread when I have dipped it in the dish.” Then, dipping the piece of bread, he gave it to Judas,^(A) the son of Simon Iscariot. ²⁷ As soon as Judas took the bread, Satan entered into him.^(B)

So Jesus told him, “What you are about to do, do quickly.”
