¹⁸ But from the time we stopped making offerings to the queen of heaven and pouring out libations to her, we have lacked everything and have perished by the sword and by famine.”^(A)

¹³ You have spoken harsh words against me, says the Lord. Yet you say, “How have we spoken against you?”^{(A) 14} You have said, “It is vain to serve God. What do we profit by keeping his command or by going about as mourners before the Lord of hosts?^{(B) 15} Now we count the arrogant happy; evildoers not only prosper, but when they put God to the test they escape.”^(C)

⁵ We remember the fish we used to eat in Egypt for nothing, the cucumbers, the melons, the leeks, the onions, and the garlic,^{(A) 6} but now our strength is dried up, and there is nothing at all but this manna to look at.”^(B)

¹² then all the Judeans returned from all the places to which they had been scattered and came to the land of Judah, to Gedaliah at Mizpah, and they gathered wine and summer fruits in great abundance.^(A)
