¹⁷ “Therefore this is what the Lord says: You have not obeyed me; you have not proclaimed freedom to your own people. So I now proclaim ‘freedom’ for you,^(A) declares the Lord—‘freedom’ to fall by the sword, plague^(B) and famine.^(C) I will make you abhorrent to all the kingdoms of the earth.^(D)

² For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.^(A)

⁷ Do not be deceived:^(A) God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows.^(B)

²⁵ The Lord will cause you to be defeated^(A) before your enemies. You will come at them from one direction but flee from them in seven,^(B) and you will become a thing of horror^(C) to all the kingdoms on earth.^(D)

¹³ because judgment without mercy will be shown to anyone who has not been merciful.^(A) Mercy triumphs over judgment.

²⁴ At the king’s command, the men who had falsely accused Daniel were brought in and thrown into the lions’ den,^(A) along with their wives and children.^(B) And before they reached the floor of the den, the lions overpowered them and crushed all their bones.^(C)

⁴ I will make them abhorrent^(A) to all the kingdoms of the earth^(B) because of what Manasseh^(C) son of Hezekiah king of Judah did in Jerusalem.
