⁹ “To me this is like the days of Noah,
    when I swore that the waters of Noah would never again cover the earth.^(A)
So now I have sworn^(B) not to be angry^(C) with you,
    never to rebuke^(D) you again.
¹⁰ Though the mountains be shaken^(E)
    and the hills be removed,
yet my unfailing love^(F) for you will not be shaken^(G)
    nor my covenant^(H) of peace^(I) be removed,”
    says the Lord, who has compassion^(J) on you.

¹⁹ He made the moon to mark the seasons,^(A)
    and the sun^(B) knows when to go down.
²⁰ You bring darkness,^(C) it becomes night,^(D)
    and all the beasts of the forest^(E) prowl.
²¹ The lions roar for their prey^(F)
    and seek their food from God.^(G)
22 The sun rises, and they steal away;
    they return and lie down in their dens.^(H)
23 Then people go out to their work,^(I)
    to their labor until evening.^(J)

³⁷ it will be established forever like the moon,
    the faithful witness in the sky.”^(A)

²² “As long as the earth endures,
seedtime and harvest,^(A)
cold and heat,
summer and winter,^(B)
day and night
will never cease.”^(C)

he who appoints^(A) the sun
    to shine by day,
who decrees the moon and stars
    to shine by night,^(B)
who stirs up the sea^(C)
    so that its waves roar^(D)—
    the Lord Almighty is his name:^(E)
36 “Only if these decrees^(F) vanish from my sight,”
    declares the Lord,
“will Israel^(G) ever cease
    being a nation before me.”

“Only if the heavens above can be measured^(H)
    and the foundations of the earth below be searched out
will I reject^(I) all the descendants of Israel
    because of all they have done,”
declares the Lord.
