⁹ “This is like ^(A)the days of Noah^[a] to me:
    as I swore that the waters of Noah
    should no more go over the earth,
so I have sworn that I will not be angry with you,
    and will not rebuke you.
¹⁰ For the mountains may depart
    and the hills be removed,
but my steadfast love shall not depart from you,
    and ^(B)my covenant of peace shall not be removed,”
    says the Lord, who has compassion on you.

¹⁹ He made the moon to mark the ^(A)seasons;^[a]
    the sun knows its time for setting.
^20 (B)You make darkness, and it is night,
    when all the beasts of the forest creep about.
^21 (C)The young lions roar for their prey,
    seeking their food from God.
²² When the sun rises, they steal away
    and lie down in their ^(D)dens.
^23 (E)Man goes out to his work
    and to his labor until the evening.

³⁵ Thus says the Lord,
who ^(A)gives the sun for light by day
    and ^(B)the fixed order of the moon and the stars for light by night,
who stirs up the sea so that its waves roar—
    ^(C)the Lord of hosts is his name:
^36 (D)“If this fixed order departs
    from before me, declares the Lord,
then shall the offspring of Israel cease
    from being a nation before me forever.”

³⁷ Thus says the Lord:
“If the heavens above can be measured,
    and the foundations of the earth below can be explored,
^(E)then I will cast off all the offspring of Israel
    for all that they have done,
declares the Lord.”
