The Lord Will Not Relent

15 Then the Lord said to me, ^(A)“Even if ^(B)Moses and ^(C)Samuel stood before Me, My ^[a]mind would not be favorable toward this people. Cast them out of My sight, and let them go forth.

^14 (A)Even if these three men, Noah, Daniel, and Job, were in it, they would deliver only themselves ^(B)by their righteousness,” says the Lord God.

²⁰ even ^(A)though Noah, Daniel, and Job were in it, as I live,” says the Lord God, “they would deliver neither son nor daughter; they would deliver only themselves by their righteousness.”

²¹ For thus says the Lord God: “How much more it shall be when ^(B)I send My four ^[a]severe judgments on Jerusalem—the sword and famine and wild beasts and pestilence—to cut off man and beast from it?

²³ Moreover, as for me, far be it from me that I should sin against the Lord ^(A)in ceasing to pray for you; but ^(B)I will teach you the ^(C)good and the right way.

¹⁵ And I will cast you out of My sight, ^(A)as I have cast out all your brethren—^(B)the whole posterity of Ephraim.

¹⁶ “Therefore ^(C)do not pray for this people, nor lift up a cry or prayer for them, nor make intercession to Me; ^(D)for I will not hear you.

²⁰ And the Lord rejected all the descendants of Israel, afflicted them, and ^(A)delivered them into the hand of plunderers, until He had cast them from His ^(B)sight.

⁹ And Samuel took a ^(A)suckling lamb and offered it as a whole burnt offering to the Lord. Then ^(B)Samuel cried out to the Lord for Israel, and the Lord answered him.
