^5 (A)If any of you lacks wisdom, ^(B)let him ask God, ^(C)who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. ⁶ But ^(D)let him ask in faith, ^(E)with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like ^(F)a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind. ⁷ For that person must not suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; ^8 (G)he is a double-minded man, ^(H)unstable in all his ways.

¹⁴ Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, ^(A)anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. ¹⁵ And the prayer of faith will save the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And ^(B)if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. ¹⁶ Therefore, ^(C)confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, ^(D)that you may be healed. ^(E)The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.^{[a] 17} Elijah was a man ^(F)with a nature like ours, and ^(G)he prayed fervently that it might not rain, and for ^(H)three years and six months it did not rain on the earth. ^18 (I)Then he prayed again, and heaven gave rain, and the earth bore its fruit.

¹⁹ And he said to her, “Give me your son.” And he took him from her arms and carried him up into the upper chamber where he lodged, and laid him on his own bed. ²⁰ And he cried to the Lord, “O Lord my God, have you brought calamity even upon the widow with whom I sojourn, by killing her son?” ^21 (A)Then he stretched himself upon the child three times and cried to the Lord, “O Lord my God, let this child's life^[a] come into him again.” ²² And the Lord listened to the voice of Elijah. And the life of the child came into him again, and ^(B)he revived.

³⁶ And at the time of ^(A)the offering of the oblation, Elijah the prophet came near and said, “O Lord, ^(B)God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, let it be known this day that ^(C)you are God in Israel, and that I am your servant, and that ^(D)I have done all these things at your word. ³⁷ Answer me, O Lord, answer me, that this people may know that you, O Lord, are God, and that you have turned their hearts back.”
