10 Then Yahweh spoke again to Ahaz, saying, 11 “Ask a (A)sign for yourself from Yahweh your God; [a]make it deep as Sheol or high as [b]heaven.” 12 But Ahaz said, “I will not ask, and I will not test Yahweh!” 13 Then he said, “[c]Listen now, O (B)house of David! Is it too slight a thing for you to try the patience of men, that you will (C)try the patience of (D)my God as well? 14 Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, (E)the [d]virgin [e]will be with child and bear a son, and she will call His name [f](F)Immanuel. 15 He will eat (G)curds and honey [g]in order that He will know to refuse evil and choose good. 16 (H)For before the boy will know to refuse evil and choose good, (I)the land whose two kings you dread will be forsaken.

(D)Behold, the (E)virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name (F)Immanuel.[c] 15 He shall eat (G)curds and honey when he knows how to refuse the evil and choose the good. 16 (H)For before the boy knows how to refuse the evil and choose the good, the land whose two kings you dread will be (I)deserted.
