Isaiah 43:9-14

9 Let all the nations gather together,
and let the peoples assemble.
Who among them declared this,
and foretold to us the former things?
Let them bring their witnesses to justify them,
and let them hear and say, “It is true.”
10 You are my witnesses, says the Lord,
and my servant whom I have chosen,
so that you may know and believe me
and understand that I am he.
Before me no god was formed,
nor shall there be any after me.
11 I, I am the Lord,
and besides me there is no savior.
12 I declared and saved and proclaimed,
when there was no strange god among you;
and you are my witnesses, says the Lord.
13 I am God, and also henceforth I am He;
there is no one who can deliver from my hand;
I work and who can hinder it?
14 Thus says the Lord,
your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel:
For your sake I will send to Babylon
and break down all the bars,
and the shouting of the Chaldeans will be turned to lamentation.[a]

9 Si adunino tutte assieme le nazioni, si riuniscano i popoli! Chi tra di loro può annunciare queste cose e farci udire delle predizioni antiche? Procurino i loro testimoni e stabiliscano il loro diritto, affinché, dopo averli uditi, si dica: “È vero!”
10 I miei testimoni siete voi», dice il Signore, «voi e il mio servo che io ho scelto, affinché voi lo sappiate, mi crediate e riconosciate che io sono. Prima di me nessun Dio fu formato, e dopo di me non ve ne sarà nessuno.
11 Io, io sono il Signore, e fuori di me non c’è salvatore.
12 Io ho annunciato, salvato, predetto, e non un dio straniero in mezzo a voi; voi me ne siete testimoni», dice il Signore; «io sono Dio.
13 Da che fu il giorno, io sono; nessuno può liberare dalla mia mano; io opererò. Chi potrà impedire la mia opera?»

9 Alle Heidenvölker mögen zusammenkommen und die Nationen sich vereinigen! Wer unter ihnen kann dies verkündigen und uns Früheres[a] hören lassen? Lass sie ihre Zeugen stellen und sich rechtfertigen; dann wird man es hören und sagen: Es ist wahr!
10 Ihr seid meine Zeugen, spricht der Herr, und mein Knecht, den ich erwählt habe, damit ihr erkennt und mir glaubt und einseht, dass ich es bin; vor mir ist kein Gott gebildet worden, und nach mir wird es keinen geben.
11 Ich, ich bin der Herr, und außer mir gibt es keinen Retter.
12 Ich habe verkündigt, gerettet und von mir hören lassen und bin nicht fremd unter euch; und ihr seid meine Zeugen, spricht der Herr, dass ich Gott bin.
13 Ja, von jeher bin ich derselbe, und niemand kann aus meiner Hand erretten. Ich wirke — wer will es abwenden?

Állítsák elő tanúikat, hogy igazolják őket,
hogy aki hallja, azt mondja rá: »Igaz!«”
Az én tanúim ti vagytok, népem!
10 „Az én tanúim ti vagytok, népem
— mondja az Örökkévaló —,
és szolgám, akit azért választottam,
hogy megismerjetek,
higgyetek bennem,
és megértsétek:
Én Vagyok, csak én!
Előttem nem volt más Isten,
és utánam sem lesz senki más!
11 Egyedül én vagyok az Örökkévaló,
rajtam kívül nincs más Szabadító!
12 Én szóltam hozzátok,

Qu’ils citent leurs témoins |et qu’ils se justifient !
Qu’on les écoute bien |afin de pouvoir dire :
« Oui, c’est la vérité ! »
10 Mais mes témoins, c’est vous,
déclare l’Eternel,
votre peuple est le serviteur, |que je me suis choisi,
pour que vous le sachiez,
que vous croyiez en moi
et que vous compreniez |que moi seul, je suis Dieu.
Avant moi aucun dieu |ne fut jamais formé,
et après moi, jamais |il n’en existera.
11 Moi, je suis l’Eternel

The Destiny of the Righteous
3 But the souls of the righteous are in the hand of God,
and no torment will ever touch them.
2 In the eyes of the foolish they seemed to have died,
and their departure was thought to be a disaster,
3 and their going from us to be their destruction;
but they are at peace.
4 For though in the sight of others they were punished,
their hope is full of immortality.
5 Having been disciplined a little, they will receive great good,
because God tested them and found them worthy of himself;
6 like gold in the furnace he tried them,
and like a sacrificial burnt offering he accepted them.
7 In the time of their visitation they will shine forth,
and will run like sparks through the stubble.
8 They will govern nations and rule over peoples,
and the Lord will reign over them forever.
9 Those who trust in him will understand truth,
and the faithful will abide with him in love,
because grace and mercy are upon his holy ones,
and he watches over his elect.[a]

8 For old age is not honored for length of time,
or measured by number of years;
9 but understanding is gray hair for anyone,
and a blameless life is ripe old age.
10 There were some who pleased God and were loved by him,
and while living among sinners were taken up.
11 They were caught up so that evil might not change their understanding
or guile deceive their souls.
12 For the fascination of wickedness obscures what is good,
and roving desire perverts the innocent mind.
13 Being perfected in a short time, they fulfilled long years;
14 for their souls were pleasing to the Lord,
therefore he took them quickly from the midst of wickedness.
15 Yet the peoples saw and did not understand,
or take such a thing to heart,
that God’s grace and mercy are with his elect,
and that he watches over his holy ones.
