Isaiah 40:6-8

6 A voice was saying, “Cry out!”
Another[a] said, “What should I cry out?”
“All humanity is grass,(A)
and all its goodness is like the flower of the field.(B)
7 The grass withers, the flowers fade
when the breath[b] of the Lord blows on them;[c]
indeed, the people are grass.
8 The grass withers, the flowers fade,(C)
but the word of our God remains forever.”(D)

The Word of God Endures Forever
6 A voice says, “Cry out!”
So I[a] asked, “What am I to cry out?”
“All humanity is grass,
and all its loyalty[b] is like the flowers of the field.
7 Grass withers and flowers fade away
when the Lord’s breath blows on them;
surely the people are like grass.[c]
8 Grass withers and flowers fade away,
when the Lord’s breath blows on them,
but the word of[d] our God will stand forever.”
