So the servants of King Hezekiah went to Isaiah, who said to them, “Tell your master, ‘The Lord says this: Don’t be afraid(A) because of the words you have heard, with which the king of Assyria’s attendants have blasphemed me.(B) I am about to put a spirit(C) in him and he will hear a rumor and return to his own land, where I will cause him to fall by the sword.’”(D)

When King Hezekiah’s servants got to Isaiah, Isaiah said to them, “Say this to your master: The Lord says this: Don’t be afraid at the words you heard, which the officers of Assyria’s king have used to insult me. I’m about to mislead him, so when he hears a rumor, he’ll go back to his own country. Then I’ll have him cut down by the sword in his own land.”
