⁸ They read from the book, from the Law of God, ^[a]translating to give the sense so that they understood the reading.

^17 (A)Sanctify them in the truth; Your word is truth.

^16 (A)All Scripture is ^[a]inspired by God and beneficial for teaching, for ^[b]rebuke, for correction, for training in righteousness; ¹⁷ so that ^(B)the man or woman of God may be ^[c]fully capable, ^(C)equipped for every good work.

¹² For ^(A)the word of God is ^(B)living and ^(C)active, and sharper than any two-edged ^(D)sword, even penetrating as far as the division of ^(E)soul and ^(F)spirit, of both joints and marrow, and ^(G)able to ^[a]judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

²³ for you have been ^(A)born again ^(B)not of seed which is perishable, but imperishable, that is, through the living and enduring ^(C)word of God. ²⁴ For,

And this is ^(F)the word which was ^[a]preached to you.

³ for His ^(A)divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true ^(B)knowledge of Him who ^(C)called us ^[a]by His own glory and ^[b]excellence. ⁴ Through ^[c]these He has granted to us His precious and magnificent ^(D)promises, so that by them you may become ^(E)partakers of the divine nature, having ^(F)escaped the ^(G)corruption that is in ^(H)the world on account of lust.

²¹ for ^(A)no prophecy was ever made by an act of human will, but men ^(B)moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God.
