4 Surely (A)He has borne our [a]griefsAnd carried our [b]sorrows;Yet we [c]esteemed Him stricken,[d]Smitten by God, and afflicted.
4 However, it was our sicknesses that He Himself (A)bore,And our pains that He carried;Yet we ourselves assumed that He had been afflicted,Struck down by (B)God, and humiliated.
4 But [in fact] He has borne our griefs,And He has carried our sorrows and pains;Yet we [ignorantly] assumed that He was stricken,Struck down by God and degraded and humiliated [by Him].(A)
4 Surely he took up our pain and bore our suffering,(A)yet we considered him punished by God,(B) stricken by him, and afflicted.(C)
4 Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.
