¹¹ Woe^(A) to those who rise early in the morning
    to run after their drinks,
who stay up late at night
    till they are inflamed with wine.^(B)

²² Woe to those who are heroes at drinking wine^(A)
    and champions at mixing drinks,^(B)

¹⁵ the elders^(A) and dignitaries^(B) are the head,
    the prophets^(C) who teach lies^(D) are the tail.

¹³ But see, there is joy and revelry,^(A)
    slaughtering of cattle and killing of sheep,
    eating of meat and drinking of wine!^(B)
“Let us eat and drink,” you say,
    “for tomorrow we die!”^(C)
