Isaiah 3-4 New King James Version (NKJV)
Judgment on Judah and Jerusalem
3 For behold, the Lord, the Lord of hosts,
4 “I will give children[c] to be their princes,
6 When a man takes hold of his brother
8 For Jerusalem stumbled,
10 “Say to the righteous that it shall be well with them,
Oppression and Luxury Condemned
13 The Lord stands up to [j]plead,
16 Moreover the Lord says:
“Because the daughters of Zion are haughty,
18 In that day the Lord will take away the finery:
24 And so it shall be:
Instead of a sweet smell there will be a stench;
26 Her gates shall lament and mourn,
Jerusalem’s Glorious Future
4 And in that day seven women shall take hold of one man, saying,
The Renewal of Zion
2 In that day the Branch of the Lord shall be beautiful and glorious;
3 And it shall come to pass that he who is left in Zion and remains in Jerusalem will be called holy—everyone who is recorded among the living in Jerusalem. 4 When the Lord has washed away the filth of the daughters of Zion, and purged the [r]blood of Jerusalem from her midst, by the spirit of judgment and by the spirit of burning, 5 then the Lord will create above every dwelling place of Mount Zion, and above her assemblies, a cloud and smoke by day and the shining of a flaming fire by night. For over all the glory there will be a [s]covering. 6 And there will be a tabernacle for shade in the daytime from the heat, for a place of refuge, and for a shelter from storm and rain.
Ephesians 5:22-6:4 New King James Version (NKJV)
Marriage—Christ and the Church
22 Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord. 23 For the husband is head of the wife, as also Christ is head of the church; and He is the Savior of the body. 24 Therefore, just as the church is subject to Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in everything.
25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her, 26 that He might [a]sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, 27 that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish. 28 So husbands ought to love their own wives as their own bodies; he who loves his wife loves himself. 29 For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as the Lord does the church. 30 For we are members of His body, [b]of His flesh and of His bones. 31 “For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.” 32 This is a great mystery, but I speak concerning Christ and the church. 33 Nevertheless let each one of you in particular so love his own wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husband.
Children and Parents
6 Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. 2 “Honor your father and mother,” which is the first commandment with promise: 3 “that it may be well with you and you may live long on the earth.”
4 And you, fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord.
1 Corinthians 16:13 New King James Version (NKJV)
13 Watch, stand fast in the faith, be brave, be strong.
2 Samuel 10:12 New King James Version (NKJV)
12 Be of good courage, and let us be strong for our people and for the cities of our God. And may the Lord do what is good in His sight.”
1 Timothy 5:8 New King James Version (NKJV)
8 But if anyone does not provide for his own, and especially for those of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.
