Arrogant Assyria Also Judged
5 “Woe to Assyria, the rod of My anger
12 Therefore it shall come to pass, when the Lord has [a]performed all His work on Mount Zion and on Jerusalem, that He will say, “I will punish the fruit of the arrogant heart of the king of Assyria, and the glory of his haughty looks.”
13 For he says:
“By the strength of my hand I have done it,
15 Shall the ax boast itself against him who chops with it?
The Returning Remnant of Israel
20 And it shall come to pass in that day
24 Therefore thus says the Lord God of hosts: “O My people, who dwell in Zion, do not be afraid of the Assyrian. He shall strike you with a rod and lift up his staff against you, in the manner of Egypt. 25 For yet a very little while and the indignation will cease, as will My anger in their destruction.” 26 And the Lord of hosts will [e]stir up a scourge for him like the slaughter of Midian at the rock of Oreb; as His rod was on the sea, so will He lift it up in the manner of Egypt.
27 It shall come to pass in that day
28 He has come to Aiath,
33 Behold, the Lord,
The Reign of Jesse’s Offspring
11 There shall come forth a [i]Rod from the [j]stem of Jesse,
3 His delight is in the fear of the Lord,
6 “The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb,
10 “And in that day there shall be a Root of Jesse,
11 It shall come to pass in that day
12 He will set up a banner for the nations,
A Hymn of Praise
12 And in that day you will say:
“O Lord, I will praise You;
3 Therefore with joy you will draw water
4 And in that day you will say:
“Praise the Lord, call upon His name;
Proclamation Against Babylon
13 The burden[s] against Babylon which Isaiah the son of Amoz saw.
2 “Lift up a banner on the high mountain,
4 The noise of a multitude in the mountains,
6 Wail, for the day of the Lord is at hand!
9 Behold, the day of the Lord comes,
11 “I will punish the world for its evil,
17 “Behold, I will stir up the Medes against them,
Mercy on Jacob
14 For the Lord will have mercy on Jacob, and will still choose Israel, and settle them in their own land. The strangers will be joined with them, and they will cling to the house of Jacob. 2 Then people will take them and bring them to their place, and the house of Israel will possess them for servants and maids in the land of the Lord; they will take them captive whose captives they were, and rule over their oppressors.
Fall of the King of Babylon
3 It shall come to pass in the day the Lord gives you rest from your sorrow, and from your fear and the hard bondage in which you were made to serve, 4 that you will take up this proverb against the king of Babylon, and say:
“How the oppressor has ceased,
9 “Hell[ac] from beneath is excited about you,

12 “How you are fallen from heaven,
16 “Those who see you will gaze at you,
18 “All the kings of the nations,
22 “For I will rise up against them,” says the Lord of hosts,
24 The Lord of hosts has sworn, saying,
28 This is the [ai]burden which came in the year that King Ahaz died.
29 “Do not rejoice, all you of Philistia,
32 What will they answer the messengers of the nation?
Proclamation Against Moab
15 The burden[ak] against Moab.
Because in the night Ar of Moab is laid waste
5 “My heart will cry out for Moab;
16 Send the lamb to the ruler of the land,
3 “Take counsel, execute judgment;
6 We have heard of the pride of Moab—
8 For the fields of Heshbon languish,
10 Gladness is taken away,
12 And it shall come to pass,
13 This is the word which the Lord has spoken concerning Moab since that time. 14 But now the Lord has spoken, saying, “Within three years, as the years of a hired man, the glory of Moab will be despised with all that great multitude, and the remnant will be very small and feeble.”

“Behold, Damascus will cease from being a city,
4 “In that day it shall come to pass
7 In that day a man will look to his Maker,
10 Because you have forgotten the God of your salvation,
12 Woe to the multitude of many people

18 Woe to the land shadowed with buzzing wings,
3 All inhabitants of the world and dwellers on the earth:
7 In that time a present will be brought to the Lord of hosts

Behold, the Lord rides on a swift cloud,
2 “I will set Egyptians against Egyptians;
5 The waters will fail from the sea,
