⁵ But I will show you whom you should fear: Fear him who, after your body has been killed, has authority to throw you into hell. Yes, I tell you, fear him.^(A)

²⁸ Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One^(A) who can destroy both soul and body in hell.

⁵³ May the God of Abraham^(A) and the God of Nahor,^(B) the God of their father, judge between us.”^(C)

So Jacob took an oath^(D) in the name of the Fear of his father Isaac.^(E)

⁵ “My covenant was with him, a covenant^(A) of life and peace,^(B) and I gave them to him; this called for reverence^(C) and he revered me and stood in awe of my name.

¹² But the Lord said to Moses and Aaron, “Because you did not trust in me enough to honor me as holy^(A) in the sight of the Israelites, you will not bring this community into the land I give them.”^(B)

¹³ These were the waters of Meribah,^[a](C) where the Israelites quarreled^(D) with the Lord and where he was proved holy among them.^(E)
