²⁰ In that day ^(A)the Lord will ^(B)shave with a razor that is ^(C)hired beyond ^(D)the River^[a]—with the king of Assyria—the head and the hair of the feet, and it will sweep away the beard also.

Jerusalem Will Be Destroyed

5 “And you, ^(A)O son of man, take a ^(B)sharp sword. Use it as ^(C)a barber's razor and ^(D)pass it over your head and your beard. Then take balances for weighing and divide the hair. ^2 (E)A third part you shall burn in the fire ^(F)in the midst of the city, ^(G)when the days of the siege are completed. And a third part you shall take and strike with the sword all around the city. ^(H)And a third part you shall scatter to the wind, and ^(I)I will unsheathe the sword after them. ^3 (J)And you shall take from these a small number and bind them in the skirts of your robe. ^4 (K)And of these again you shall take some and cast them into the midst of the fire and burn them in the fire. From there a fire will come out into all the house of Israel.

⁷ therefore, behold, the Lord is bringing up against them ^(A)the waters of ^(B)the River,^[a] mighty and many, the king of Assyria and all his glory. And it ^(C)will rise over all its channels and go over all its banks,

^20 (A)I have given him the land of Egypt as his payment for which he labored, because they worked for me, declares the Lord God.

^18 (A)“Son of man, ^(B)Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon made his army labor hard against Tyre. Every head was made bald, and every shoulder was rubbed bare, yet neither he nor his army got anything from Tyre to pay for the labor that he had performed against her.

^6 (A)Now I have given all these lands into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar, the king of Babylon, ^(B)my servant, ^(C)and I have given him also the beasts of the field to serve him. ^7 (D)All the nations shall serve him and ^(E)his son and ^(F)his grandson, ^(G)until the time of his own land comes. ^(H)Then many nations and great kings shall make him their slave.
