⁵ I looked, but there was no one^(A) to help,
    I was appalled that no one gave support;
so my own arm^(B) achieved salvation for me,
    and my own wrath sustained me.^(C)

¹⁰ The Lord will lay bare his holy arm^(A)
    in the sight of all the nations,^(B)
and all the ends of the earth^(C) will see
    the salvation^(D) of our God.

² When I came, why was there no one?
    When I called, why was there no one to answer?^(A)
Was my arm too short^(B) to deliver you?
    Do I lack the strength^(C) to rescue you?
By a mere rebuke^(D) I dry up the sea,^(E)
    I turn rivers into a desert;^(F)
their fish rot for lack of water
    and die of thirst.

²⁸ I look but there is no one^(A)—
    no one among the gods to give counsel,^(B)
    no one to give answer^(C) when I ask them.

¹⁰ See, the Sovereign Lord comes^(A) with power,^(B)
    and he rules^(C) with a mighty arm.^(D)
See, his reward^(E) is with him,
    and his recompense accompanies him.
