The Thousand Years

20 And I saw an angel coming down out of heaven,^(A) having the key^(B) to the Abyss^(C) and holding in his hand a great chain. ² He seized the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the devil, or Satan,^(D) and bound him for a thousand years.^{(E) 3} He threw him into the Abyss,^(F) and locked and sealed^(G) it over him, to keep him from deceiving the nations^(H) anymore until the thousand years were ended. After that, he must be set free for a short time.

¹⁴ They will wage war^(A) against the Lamb, but the Lamb will triumph over^(B) them because he is Lord of lords and King of kings^(C)—and with him will be his called, chosen^(D) and faithful followers.”

¹⁵ Then the angel said to me, “The waters^(E) you saw, where the prostitute sits, are peoples, multitudes, nations and languages.^(F)

¹¹ My name will be great^(A) among the nations,^(B) from where the sun rises to where it sets.^(C) In every place incense^(D) and pure offerings^(E) will be brought to me, because my name will be great among the nations,” says the Lord Almighty.

Restoration of Israel’s Remnant

¹⁵ Then from his mouth the serpent^(A) spewed water like a river, to overtake the woman and sweep her away with the torrent. ¹⁶ But the earth helped the woman by opening its mouth and swallowing the river that the dragon had spewed out of his mouth. ¹⁷ Then the dragon was enraged at the woman and went off to wage war^(B) against the rest of her offspring^(C)—those who keep God’s commands^(D) and hold fast their testimony about Jesus.^(E)
