¹⁸ If only you had paid attention^(A) to my commands,
    your peace^(B) would have been like a river,^(C)
    your well-being^(D) like the waves of the sea.

“I will extend peace^(A) to her like a river,^(B)
    and the wealth^(C) of nations like a flooding stream;
you will nurse and be carried^(D) on her arm
    and dandled on her knees.

¹³ “If my people would only listen to me,^(A)
    if Israel would only follow my ways,
¹⁴ how quickly I would subdue^(B) their enemies
    and turn my hand against^(C) their foes!
¹⁵ Those who hate the Lord would cringe^(D) before him,
    and their punishment would last forever.
¹⁶ But you would be fed with the finest of wheat;^(E)
    with honey from the rock I would satisfy you.”

²⁹ If only they were wise and would understand this^(A)
    and discern what their end will be!^(B)

⁸ They feast on the abundance of your house;^(A)
    you give them drink from your river^(B) of delights.^(C)

²⁴ But let justice^(A) roll on like a river,
    righteousness^(B) like a never-failing stream!^(C)
