⁶ “I, the Lord, have called you to demonstrate my righteousness.
    I will take you by the hand and guard you,
and I will give you to my people, Israel,
    as a symbol of my covenant with them.
And you will be a light to guide the nations.

³² He is a light to reveal God to the nations,
    and he is the glory of your people Israel!”

“At just the right time, I will respond to you.^[a]
    On the day of salvation I will help you.
I will protect you and give you to the people
    as my covenant with them.
Through you I will reestablish the land of Israel
    and assign it to its own people again.

⁶ He says, “You will do more than restore the people of Israel to me.
    I will make you a light to the Gentiles,
    and you will bring my salvation to the ends of the earth.”

‘I have made you a light to the Gentiles,
    to bring salvation to the farthest corners of the earth.’^[a]”

⁵ “For the time is coming,”
    says the Lord,
“when I will raise up a righteous descendant^[a]
    from King David’s line.
He will be a King who rules with wisdom.
    He will do what is just and right throughout the land.
⁶ And this will be his name:
    ‘The Lord Is Our Righteousness.’^[b]
In that day Judah will be saved,
    and Israel will live in safety.
