²² He sits enthroned^(A) above the circle of the earth,
    and its people are like grasshoppers.^(B)
He stretches out the heavens^(C) like a canopy,^(D)
    and spreads them out like a tent^(E) to live in.^(F)

²⁷ I was there when he set the heavens in place,^(A)
    when he marked out the horizon^(B) on the face of the deep,

² The Lord wraps^(A) himself in light^(B) as with a garment;
    he stretches^(C) out the heavens^(D) like a tent^(E)

⁵ This is what God the Lord says—
the Creator of the heavens,^(A) who stretches them out,
    who spreads out the earth^(B) with all that springs from it,^(C)
    who gives breath^(D) to its people,
    and life to those who walk on it:

“Heaven is my throne,^(A)
    and the earth is my footstool.^(B)
Where is the house^(C) you will build for me?
    Where will my resting place be?

¹² But God made^(A) the earth^(B) by his power;
    he founded the world by his wisdom^(C)
    and stretched out the heavens^(D) by his understanding.

“In the beginning, Lord, you laid the foundations of the earth,
    and the heavens are the work of your hands.^(A)
11 They will perish, but you remain;
    they will all wear out like a garment.^(B)
12 You will roll them up like a robe;
    like a garment they will be changed.
But you remain the same,^(C)
    and your years will never end.”^[a](D)

¹³ that you forget^(A) the Lord your Maker,^(B)
    who stretches out the heavens^(C)
    and who lays the foundations of the earth,
that you live in constant terror^(D) every day
    because of the wrath of the oppressor,
    who is bent on destruction?
For where is the wrath of the oppressor?^(E)

I am the Lord,
    the Maker of all things,
    who stretches out the heavens,^(D)
    who spreads out the earth^(E) by myself,
