The Glory of Zion

60 “Arise,(L) shine, for your light(M) has come,
    and the glory(N) of the Lord rises upon you.
See, darkness(O) covers the earth
    and thick darkness(P) is over the peoples,
but the Lord rises upon you
    and his glory appears over you.
Nations(Q) will come to your light,(R)
    and kings(S) to the brightness of your dawn.

“Lift up your eyes and look about you:
    All assemble(T) and come to you;
your sons come from afar,(U)
    and your daughters(V) are carried on the hip.(W)
Then you will look and be radiant,(X)
    your heart will throb and swell with joy;(Y)
the wealth(Z) on the seas will be brought to you,
    to you the riches of the nations will come.
Herds of camels(AA) will cover your land,
    young camels of Midian(AB) and Ephah.(AC)
And all from Sheba(AD) will come,
    bearing gold and incense(AE)
    and proclaiming the praise(AF) of the Lord.
All Kedar’s(AG) flocks will be gathered to you,
    the rams of Nebaioth will serve you;
they will be accepted as offerings(AH) on my altar,(AI)
    and I will adorn my glorious temple.(AJ)

“Who are these(AK) that fly along like clouds,(AL)
    like doves to their nests?
Surely the islands(AM) look to me;

    with their silver and gold,(AP)
to the honor(AQ) of the Lord your God,
    the Holy One(AR) of Israel,
    for he has endowed you with splendor.(AS)

10 “Foreigners(AT) will rebuild your walls,
    and their kings(AU) will serve you.
Though in anger I struck you,
    in favor(AV) I will show you compassion.(AW)
11 Your gates(AX) will always stand open,
    they will never be shut, day or night,

    their kings(AZ) led in triumphal procession.
12 For the nation or kingdom that will not serve(BA) you will perish;
    it will be utterly ruined.(BB)

13 “The glory of Lebanon(BC) will come to you,
    the juniper, the fir and the cypress together,(BD)
to adorn my sanctuary;(BE)
    and I will glorify the place for my feet.(BF)
14 The children of your oppressors(BG) will come bowing before you;
    all who despise you will bow down(BH) at your feet
and will call you the City(BI) of the Lord,
    Zion(BJ) of the Holy One(BK) of Israel.

15 “Although you have been forsaken(BL) and hated,
    with no one traveling(BM) through,
I will make you the everlasting pride(BN)
    and the joy(BO) of all generations.
16 You will drink the milk of nations
    and be nursed(BP) at royal breasts.
Then you will know(BQ) that I, the Lord, am your Savior,(BR)
    your Redeemer,(BS) the Mighty One of Jacob.(BT)
17 Instead of bronze I will bring you gold,(BU)
    and silver in place of iron.
Instead of wood I will bring you bronze,
    and iron in place of stones.
I will make peace(BV) your governor
    and well-being your ruler.(BW)
18 No longer will violence(BX) be heard in your land,
    nor ruin or destruction(BY) within your borders,
but you will call your walls Salvation(BZ)
    and your gates Praise.(CA)
19 The sun will no more be your light by day,
    nor will the brightness of the moon shine on you,
for the Lord will be your everlasting light,(CB)
    and your God will be your glory.(CC)
20 Your sun(CD) will never set again,
