⁹ For it is written in the law of Moses, “You shall not muzzle an ox while it is treading out the grain.” Is it for oxen that God is concerned?^{(A) 10} Or does he not speak entirely for our sake? It was indeed written for our sake, for whoever plows should plow in hope and whoever threshes should thresh in hope of a share in the crop.

⁹ For we are God’s coworkers, working together; you are God’s field, God’s building.^(A)

²⁴ Very truly, I tell you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains just a single grain, but if it dies it bears much fruit.

Jesus Predicts Peter’s Denial

³¹ “Simon, Simon, listen! Satan has demanded^[a] to sift all of you like wheat,^{(A) 32} but I have prayed for you that your own faith may not fail, and you, when once you have turned back, strengthen your brothers.”^(B)

³⁷ He answered, “The one who sows the good seed is the Son of Man; ³⁸ the field is the world, and the good seed are the children of the kingdom; the weeds are the children of the evil one,^{(A) 39} and the enemy who sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the age, and the reapers are angels.^{(B) 40} Just as the weeds are collected and burned up with fire, so will it be at the end of the age.^{(C) 41} The Son of Man will send his angels, and they will collect out of his kingdom all causes of sin^[a] and all evildoers,^{(D) 42} and they will throw them into the furnace of fire, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.^{(E) 43} Then the righteous will shine like the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Let anyone with ears^[b] listen!^(F)

¹² His winnowing fork is in his hand, and he will clear his threshing floor and will gather his wheat into the granary, but the chaff he will burn with unquenchable fire.”^(A)
