²⁰ “You are my war club,^(A)
    my weapon for battle—
with you I shatter^(B) nations,^(C)
    with you I destroy kingdoms,
²¹ with you I shatter horse and rider,^(D)
    with you I shatter chariot^(E) and driver,
²² with you I shatter man and woman,
    with you I shatter old man and youth,
    with you I shatter young man and young woman,^(F)
23 with you I shatter shepherd and flock,
    with you I shatter farmer and oxen,
    with you I shatter governors and officials.^(G)

³⁰ The Lord will cause people to hear his majestic voice^(A)
    and will make them see his arm^(B) coming down
with raging anger^(C) and consuming fire,^(D)
    with cloudburst, thunderstorm^(E) and hail.^(F)

²⁵ I will crush the Assyrian^(A) in my land;
    on my mountains I will trample him down.
His yoke^(B) will be taken from my people,
    and his burden removed from their shoulders.^(C)”

¹⁵ Does the ax raise itself above the person who swings it,
    or the saw boast against the one who uses it?^(A)
As if a rod were to wield the person who lifts it up,
    or a club^(B) brandish the one who is not wood!

¹⁴ When you see this, your heart will rejoice^(A)
    and you will flourish^(B) like grass;
the hand^(C) of the Lord will be made known to his servants,^(D)
    but his fury^(E) will be shown to his foes.

⁵ The Lord has broken the rod^(A) of the wicked,^(B)
    the scepter^(C) of the rulers,
⁶ which in anger struck down peoples^(D)
    with unceasing blows,
and in fury subdued^(E) nations
    with relentless aggression.^(F)

⁵ They come from faraway lands,
    from the ends of the heavens^(A)—
the Lord and the weapons^(B) of his wrath^(C)—
    to destroy^(D) the whole country.
