Isaiah 10-11 New King James Version (NKJV)
Assyria Shall Be Broken
10 “Woe to those who decree unrighteous decrees,
For all this His anger is not turned away,
Arrogant Assyria Also Judged
5 “Woe to Assyria, the rod of My anger
12 Therefore it shall come to pass, when the Lord has [b]performed all His work on Mount Zion and on Jerusalem, that He will say, “I will punish the fruit of the arrogant heart of the king of Assyria, and the glory of his haughty looks.”
13 For he says:
“By the strength of my hand I have done it,
15 Shall the ax boast itself against him who chops with it?
The Returning Remnant of Israel
20 And it shall come to pass in that day
24 Therefore thus says the Lord God of hosts: “O My people, who dwell in Zion, do not be afraid of the Assyrian. He shall strike you with a rod and lift up his staff against you, in the manner of Egypt. 25 For yet a very little while and the indignation will cease, as will My anger in their destruction.” 26 And the Lord of hosts will [f]stir up a scourge for him like the slaughter of Midian at the rock of Oreb; as His rod was on the sea, so will He lift it up in the manner of Egypt.
27 It shall come to pass in that day
28 He has come to Aiath,
33 Behold, the Lord,
The Reign of Jesse’s Offspring
11 There shall come forth a [j]Rod from the [k]stem of Jesse,
3 His delight is in the fear of the Lord,
6 “The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb,
10 “And in that day there shall be a Root of Jesse,
11 It shall come to pass in that day
12 He will set up a banner for the nations,

Signs of an Apostle
11 I have become a fool [a]in boasting; you have compelled me. For I ought to have been commended by you; for in nothing was I behind the most eminent apostles, though I am nothing. 12 Truly the signs of an apostle were accomplished among you with all perseverance, in signs and wonders and mighty deeds. 13 For what is it in which you were inferior to other churches, except that I myself was not burdensome to you? Forgive me this wrong!
Love for the Church
14 Now for the third time I am ready to come to you. And I will not be burdensome to you; for I do not seek yours, but you. For the children ought not to lay up for the parents, but the parents for the children. 15 And I will very gladly spend and be spent for your souls; though the more abundantly I love you, the less I am loved.
16 But be that as it may, I did not burden you. Nevertheless, being crafty, I caught you by cunning! 17 Did I take advantage of you by any of those whom I sent to you? 18 I urged Titus, and sent our brother with him. Did Titus take advantage of you? Did we not walk in the same spirit? Did we not walk in the same steps?
19 Again, [b]do you think that we excuse ourselves to you? We speak before God in Christ. But we do all things, beloved, for your edification. 20 For I fear lest, when I come, I shall not find you such as I wish, and that I shall be found by you such as you do not wish; lest there be contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, backbitings, whisperings, conceits, tumults; 21 lest, when I come again, my God will humble me among you, and I shall mourn for many who have sinned before and have not repented of the uncleanness, fornication, and lewdness which they have practiced.

Prayer for Relief from Tormentors
To the Chief Musician. Set to [a]“The Silent Dove in Distant Lands.” A Michtam of David when the Philistines captured him in Gath.
56 Be merciful to me, O God, for man would swallow me up;
3 Whenever I am afraid,
5 All day they twist my words;
8 You number my wanderings;
12 Vows made to You are binding upon me, O God;
