Hosea 9:7-9 Good News Translation (GNT)

The time for punishment has come, the time when people will get what they deserve. When that happens, Israel will know it! “This prophet,” you say, “is a fool. This inspired man is insane.” You people hate me so much because your sin is so great. God has sent me as a prophet to warn his people Israel. Yet wherever I go, you try to trap me like a bird. Even in God's Temple the people are the prophet's enemies. They are hopelessly evil in what they do, just as they were at Gibeah.[a] God will remember their sin and punish them for it.

Footnotes:

  1. Hosea 9:9 At this city some Israelites of the tribe of Benjamin raped a Levite's concubine; this caused a civil war that almost wiped out the Benjaminites (see Jg 19–21).

Hosea 9:7-9 New International Version (NIV)

The days of punishment are coming,
the days of reckoning are at hand.
    Let Israel know this.
Because your sins are so many
    and your hostility so great,
the prophet is considered a fool,
    the inspired person a maniac.
The prophet, along with my God,
    is the watchman over Ephraim,[a]
yet snares await him on all his paths,
and hostility in the house of his God.
They have sunk deep into corruption,
as in the days of Gibeah.
God will remember their wickedness
and punish them for their sins.

  1. Hosea 9:8 Or The prophet is the watchman over Ephraim, / the people of my God
