⁸ Ephraim boasts,^(A)
    “I am very rich; I have become wealthy.^(B)
With all my wealth they will not find in me
    any iniquity or sin.”

¹⁰ Do not trust in extortion^(A)
    or put vain hope in stolen goods;^(B)
though your riches increase,
    do not set your heart on them.^(C)

³⁵     you say, ‘I am innocent;^(A)
    he is not angry with me.’
But I will pass judgment^(B) on you
    because you say, ‘I have not sinned.’^(C)

²⁰ “This is the way of an adulterous woman:
    She eats and wipes her mouth
    and says, ‘I’ve done nothing wrong.’^(A)

¹² those who are pure in their own eyes^(A)
    and yet are not cleansed of their filth;^(B)
