⁵ Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, ^(A)“I will never leave you nor forsake you.” ⁶ So we may boldly say:

¹⁶ At my first defense no one stood with me, but all forsook me. ^(A)May it not be charged against them.

The Lord Is Faithful

^17 (B)But the Lord stood with me and strengthened me, ^(C)so that the message might be preached fully through me, and that all the Gentiles might hear. Also I was delivered ^(D)out of the mouth of the lion. ^18 (E)And the Lord will deliver me from every evil work and preserve me for His heavenly kingdom. ^(F)To Him be glory forever and ever. Amen!

The Plot Against Paul

¹¹ But ^(A)the following night the Lord stood by him and said, ^[a]“Be of good cheer, Paul; for as you have testified for Me in ^(B)Jerusalem, so you must also bear witness at ^(C)Rome.”

¹² And when it was day, ^(D)some of the Jews banded together and bound themselves under an oath, saying that they would neither eat nor drink till they had ^(E)killed Paul.
