New American Standard Bible
6 Now when these things have been so prepared, the priests (A)are continually entering the [a]outer [b]tabernacle, performing the divine worship, 7 but into (B)the second, only (C)the high priest enters (D)once a year, (E)not without taking blood which he (F)offers for himself and for the [c](G)sins of the people committed in ignorance. 8 (H)The Holy Spirit is signifying this, (I)that the way into the holy place has not yet been disclosed while the [d]outer tabernacle is still standing, 9 which is a symbol for the present time. Accordingly (J)both gifts and sacrifices are offered which (K)cannot make the worshiper perfect in conscience, 10 since they relate only to (L)food, (M)drink, and various (N)washings, (O)regulations for the [e]body imposed until (P)a time of reformation.
11 But when Christ appeared as a (Q)high priest of the (R)good things [f]having come, He entered through (S)the greater and more perfect [g]tabernacle, (T)not made by hands, that is, (U)not of this creation; 12 and not through (V)the blood of goats and calves, but (W)through His own blood, He (X)entered the holy place (Y)once for all time, [h]having obtained (Z)eternal redemption. 13 For if (AA)the blood of goats and bulls, and (AB)the [i]ashes of a heifer sprinkling those who have been defiled, sanctify for the [j]cleansing of the flesh, 14 how much more will (AC)the blood of Christ, who through [k](AD)the eternal Spirit (AE)offered Himself without blemish to God, (AF)cleanse your conscience from (AG)dead works to serve (AH)the living God?
15 For this reason (AI)He is the (AJ)mediator of a (AK)new covenant, so that, since a death has taken place for the redemption of the violations that were committed under the first covenant, those who have been (AL)called may (AM)receive the promise of (AN)the eternal inheritance. 16 For where there is a [l]covenant, there must of necessity [m]be the death of the one who made it. 17 For a [n]covenant is valid only when people are dead, [o]for it is never in force while the one who made it lives. 18 Therefore even the first covenant was not inaugurated without blood. 19 For when every commandment had been (AO)spoken by Moses to all the people according to the Law, (AP)he took the (AQ)blood of the calves and the goats, with (AR)water and scarlet wool and hyssop, and sprinkled both (AS)the book itself and all the people, 20 saying, “(AT)This is the blood of the covenant which God commanded you.” 21 And in the same way he (AU)sprinkled both the [p]tabernacle and all the vessels of the ministry with the blood. 22 And (AV)almost all things are cleansed with blood, according to the Law, and (AW)without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.
23 Therefore it was necessary for the (AX)copies of the things in the heavens to be cleansed with these things, but (AY)the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these. 24 For Christ (AZ)did not enter a holy place made by hands, a mere copy of (BA)the true one, but into (BB)heaven itself, now (BC)to appear in the presence of God for us; 25 nor was it that He would offer Himself often, as (BD)the high priest enters (BE)the Holy Place (BF)year by year with blood that is not his own. 26 Otherwise, He would have needed to suffer often since (BG)the foundation of the world; but now (BH)once at (BI)the consummation of the ages He has been (BJ)revealed to put away sin [q](BK)by the sacrifice of Himself. 27 And just as (BL)it is destined for people to die once, and after this (BM)comes judgment, 28 so Christ also, having been (BN)offered once to (BO)bear the sins of many, will appear (BP)a second time for (BQ)salvation (BR)without reference to sin, to those who (BS)eagerly await Him.
One Sacrifice of Christ Is Sufficient
10 For the Law, since it has only (BT)a shadow of (BU)the good things to come and not the [r]form of those things itself, [s]can (BV)never, by the same sacrifices which they offer continually every year, (BW)make those who approach perfect. 2 Otherwise, would they not have ceased to be offered, because the worshipers, having once been cleansed, would no longer have had (BX)consciousness of sins? 3 But (BY)in [t]those sacrifices there is a reminder of sins every year. 4 For it is (BZ)impossible for the (CA)blood of bulls and goats to take away sins. 5 Therefore, (CB)when He comes into the world, He says,
“(CC)You have not desired sacrifice and offering,
But (CD)You have prepared a body for Me;
6 (CE)You have not taken pleasure in whole burnt offerings and offerings for sin.
7 (CF)Then I said, ‘Behold, I have come
(It is written of Me in (CG)the scroll of the book)
To do Your will, O God.’”
8 After saying above, “(CH)Sacrifices and offerings and (CI)whole burnt offerings and offerings (CJ)for sin You have not desired, nor have You taken pleasure in them” (which are offered according to the Law), 9 then He [u]said, “(CK)Behold, I have come to do Your will.” He takes away the first in order to establish the second. 10 By [v]this will, we have been (CL)sanctified through (CM)the offering of (CN)the body of Jesus Christ (CO)once for all time.
11 Every priest stands daily ministering and (CP)offering time after time the same sacrifices, which (CQ)can never take away sins; 12 but He, having offered one sacrifice (CR)for [w]sins (CS)for all time, (CT)sat down at the right hand of God, 13 waiting from that time onward (CU)until His enemies are made a footstool for His feet. 14 For by one offering He has (CV)perfected (CW)for all time those who are [x]sanctified. 15 And (CX)the Holy Spirit also testifies to us; for after saying,
16 “(CY)This is the covenant which I will make with them
After those days, declares the Lord:
I will put My laws upon their hearts,
And write them on their mind,”
He then says,
17 “(CZ)And their sins and their lawless deeds
I will no longer remember.”
18 Now where there is forgiveness of these things, an offering for sin is no longer required.
