²⁹ For ^(A)our God is a consuming fire.

² And ^(A)the Angel of the Lord appeared to him in a flame of fire from the midst of a bush. So he looked, and behold, the bush was burning with fire, but the bush was not consumed. ³ Then Moses said, “I will now turn aside and see this ^(B)great sight, why the bush does not burn.”

⁴ So when the Lord saw that he turned aside to look, God called ^(C)to him from the midst of the bush and said, “Moses, Moses!”

And he said, “Here I am.”

⁵ Then He said, “Do not draw near this place. ^(D)Take your sandals off your feet, for the place where you stand is holy ground.”

The Glorious Company

¹⁸ For you have not come ^[a]to ^(A)the mountain that may be touched and that burned with fire, and to blackness and ^[b]darkness and tempest,

The People Complain

11 Now ^(A)when the people complained, it displeased the Lord; ^(B)for the Lord heard it, and His anger was aroused. So the ^(C)fire of the Lord burned among them, and consumed some in the outskirts of the camp. ² Then the people ^(D)cried out to Moses, and when Moses ^(E)prayed to the Lord, the fire was ^[a]quenched. ³ So he called the name of the place ^[b]Taberah, because the fire of the Lord had burned among them.

³⁵ And ^(A)a fire came out from the Lord and consumed the two hundred and fifty men who were offering incense.

⁶ So ^(A)the Lord sent ^(B)fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and many of the people of Israel died.

^9 (A)The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but ^(B)is longsuffering toward ^[a]us, ^(C)not willing that any should perish but ^(D)that all should come to repentance.

The Day of the Lord

¹⁰ But ^(E)the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which ^(F)the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be ^[b]burned up. ¹¹ Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be ^(G)in holy conduct and godliness, ^12 (H)looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will ^(I)be dissolved, being on fire, and the elements will ^(J)melt with fervent heat?

³ Then another angel, having a golden censer, came and stood at the altar. He was given much incense, that he should offer it with ^(A)the prayers of all the saints upon ^(B)the golden altar which was before the throne. ⁴ And ^(C)the smoke of the incense, with the prayers of the saints, ascended before God from the angel’s hand. ⁵ Then the angel took the censer, filled it with fire from the altar, and threw it to the earth. And ^(D)there were noises, thunderings, ^(E)lightnings, ^(F)and an earthquake.
