Worship in the Earthly Tabernacle

9 Now the first covenant had regulations for worship and also an earthly sanctuary.^(A)

⁸ “Then have them make a sanctuary^(A) for me, and I will dwell^(B) among them.

¹⁰ They are only a matter of food^(A) and drink^(B) and various ceremonial washings^(C)—external regulations^(D) applying until the time of the new order.

The Blood of Christ

¹¹ But when Christ came as high priest^(E) of the good things that are now already here,^[a](F) he went through the greater and more perfect tabernacle^(G) that is not made with human hands,^(H) that is to say, is not a part of this creation.

² and who serves in the sanctuary, the true tabernacle^(A) set up by the Lord, not by a mere human being.

¹³ By calling this covenant “new,”^(A) he has made the first one obsolete;^(B) and what is obsolete and outdated will soon disappear.

⁷ For if there had been nothing wrong with that first covenant, no place would have been sought for another.^(A)

⁸ See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy,^(A) which depends on human tradition and the elemental spiritual forces^[a] of this world^(B) rather than on Christ.

⁶ Both of them were righteous in the sight of God, observing all the Lord’s commands and decrees blamelessly.^(A)

¹¹ and if they are ashamed of all they have done, make known to them the design of the temple—its arrangement, its exits and entrances—its whole design and all its regulations^[a] and laws. Write these down before them so that they may be faithful to its design and follow all its regulations.^(A)
