¹⁶ that no one is ^(A)sexually immoral or unholy like Esau, who sold his birthright for a single meal.

³¹ Jacob said, “Sell me your birthright now.” ³² Esau said, “I am about to die; of what use is a birthright to me?” ³³ Jacob said, “Swear to me now.” So he swore to him and ^(A)sold his birthright to Jacob. ³⁴ Then Jacob gave Esau bread and lentil stew, and he ate and drank and rose and went his way. Thus Esau despised his birthright.

^4 (A)Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the marriage bed be undefiled, for God will judge ^(B)the sexually immoral and adulterous.

¹⁵ Do you not know that ^(A)your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then take the members of Christ and make them members of a prostitute? Never! ¹⁶ Or do you not know that he who is joined^[a] to a prostitute becomes one body with her? For, as it is written, ^(B)“The two will become one flesh.” ¹⁷ But he who is joined to the Lord ^(C)becomes one spirit with him. ^18 (D)Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin^[b] a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person ^(E)sins against his own body. ¹⁹ Or ^(F)do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? ^(G)You are not your own, ^20 (H)for you were bought with a price. ^(I)So glorify God in your body.

^15 (A)Outside are ^(B)the dogs ^(C)and sorcerers and the sexually immoral and murderers and idolaters, and everyone who loves and practices falsehood.

^29 (A)that you abstain from ^(B)what has been sacrificed to idols, and from blood, and from what has been strangled, and from sexual immorality. If you keep yourselves from these, you will do well. Farewell.”

^8 (A)But as for the cowardly, the faithless, the detestable, as for murderers, the sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, ^(B)their portion will be in ^(C)the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is ^(D)the second death.”

²⁰ But I have this against you, that you tolerate that woman ^(A)Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess and is teaching and seducing my servants ^(B)to practice sexual immorality and ^(C)to eat food sacrificed to idols. ²¹ I gave her time to repent, but ^(D)she refuses to repent of her sexual immorality. ²² Behold, I will throw her onto a sickbed, and those who commit adultery with her I will throw into great tribulation, unless they repent of her works, ²³ and I will strike her children dead. And all the churches will know that I am he ^(E)who searches mind and heart, and ^(F)I will give to each of you according to your works.

³ For this is the will of God, ^(A)your sanctification:^{[a] (B)}that you abstain from sexual immorality; ⁴ that each one of you know how to control his own ^(C)body^[b] in holiness and ^(D)honor, ⁵ not in ^(E)the passion of lust ^(F)like the Gentiles ^(G)who do not know God; ⁶ that no one transgress and ^(H)wrong his brother in this matter, because the Lord is ^(I)an avenger in all these things, as we told you beforehand and solemnly warned you. ⁷ For ^(J)God has not called us for ^(K)impurity, but in holiness.
