¹³ These all died in faith, ^(A)not having received the things promised, but ^(B)having seen them and greeted them from afar, and ^(C)having acknowledged that they were ^(D)strangers and exiles on the earth.

³⁹ And all these, ^(A)though commended through their faith, ^(B)did not receive what was promised,

²⁷ By faith he ^(A)left Egypt, ^(B)not being afraid of the anger of the king, for he endured ^(C)as seeing him who is invisible.

^56 (A)Your father Abraham ^(B)rejoiced ^(C)that he would see my day. ^(D)He saw it and was glad.”

²⁴ For ^(A)in this hope we were saved. Now ^(B)hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes for what he sees?

^4 (A)“I am a sojourner and foreigner among you; ^(B)give me property among you for a burying place, that I may bury my dead out of my sight.”

¹¹ Beloved, I urge you ^(A)as sojourners and exiles ^(B)to abstain from the passions of the flesh, ^(C)which wage war against your soul.

¹⁷ And if you ^(A)call on him as Father who ^(B)judges ^(C)impartially according to each one's deeds, conduct yourselves ^(D)with fear throughout the time of your exile,
