³⁹ But we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who have faith and preserve their souls.

⁵ Who is it that overcomes the world except the one who believes ^(A)that Jesus is the Son of God?

⁵ who by God's power are being guarded ^(A)through faith for a salvation ^(B)ready to be revealed in the last time.

^16 (A)Whoever believes and is ^(B)baptized ^(C)will be saved, but ^(D)whoever ^(E)does not believe will be condemned.

¹⁶ If anyone sees his brother committing a sin not leading to death, he shall ask, and ^(A)God^[a] will give him life—to those who commit sins that do not lead to death. ^(B)There is sin that leads to death; ^(C)I do not say that one should pray for that.

⁷ But by the same word ^(A)the heavens and earth that now exist are stored up for fire, being kept until the day of judgment and ^(B)destruction of the ungodly.

By Faith

11 Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of ^(A)things not seen.

¹² in order that all may be condemned ^(A)who did not believe the truth but ^(B)had pleasure in unrighteousness.

Stand Firm

¹³ But ^(C)we ought always to give thanks to God for you, ^(D)brothers beloved by the Lord, because God chose you ^(E)as the firstfruits^{[a] (F)}to be saved, ^(G)through sanctification by the Spirit and belief in the truth. ¹⁴ To this he called you through ^(H)our gospel, ^(I)so that you may obtain the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

⁹ For God has not destined us for ^(A)wrath, but ^(B)to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ,
