³ He is the radiance of the glory of God and ^(A)the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. ^(B)After making purification for sins, ^(C)he sat down ^(D)at the right hand of the Majesty on high,

The Preeminence of Christ

^15 (A)He is the image of ^(B)the invisible God, ^(C)the firstborn of all creation. ¹⁶ For by^[a] him all things were created, ^(D)in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether ^(E)thrones or ^(F)dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created ^(G)through him and for him. ¹⁷ And ^(H)he is before all things, and in him all things ^(I)hold together.

⁴ In their case ^(A)the god of this world ^(B)has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing ^(C)the light of ^(D)the gospel of the glory of Christ, ^(E)who is the image of God.

⁹ Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you so long, and you still do not know me, Philip? ^(A)Whoever has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? ¹⁰ Do you not believe that ^(B)I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words that I say to you ^(C)I do not speak on my own authority, but the Father who dwells in me does his works.

² looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, ^(A)who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising ^(B)the shame, and ^(C)is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.

¹⁴ And ^(A)the Word ^(B)became flesh and ^(C)dwelt among us, ^(D)and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son^[a] from the Father, full of ^(E)grace and ^(F)truth.

¹² But when Christ^[a] had offered for all time a single sacrifice for sins, he ^(A)sat down at the right hand of God,

^4 (A)In him was life,^[a] and ^(B)the life was the light of men.
