² “Speak to Zerubbabel^(A) son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, to Joshua son of Jozadak,^[a](B) the high priest, and to the remnant^(C) of the people. Ask them,

⁷ “What are you, mighty mountain? Before Zerubbabel you will become level ground.^(A) Then he will bring out the capstone^(B) to shouts^(C) of ‘God bless it! God bless it!’”

⁸ Then the word of the Lord came to me: ⁹ “The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundation^(D) of this temple; his hands will also complete it.^(E) Then you will know that the Lord Almighty has sent me^(F) to you.

¹⁰ “Who dares despise the day^(G) of small things,^(H) since the seven eyes^(I) of the Lord that range throughout the earth will rejoice when they see the chosen capstone^[a] in the hand of Zerubbabel?”^(J)
