⁴ He is the Rock,^(A) his works are perfect,^(B)
    and all his ways are just.
A faithful God^(C) who does no wrong,
    upright^(D) and just is he.^(E)

²⁸ Do not be afraid, Jacob my servant,
    for I am with you,”^(A) declares the Lord.
“Though I completely destroy^(B) all the nations
    among which I scatter you,
    I will not completely destroy you.
I will discipline you but only in due measure;
    I will not let you go entirely unpunished.”

¹¹ I am with you^(A) and will save you,’
    declares the Lord.
‘Though I completely destroy all the nations
    among which I scatter you,
    I will not completely destroy^(B) you.
I will discipline^(C) you but only in due measure;
    I will not let you go entirely unpunished.’^(D)

²⁷ The eternal^(A) God is your refuge,^(B)
    and underneath are the everlasting^(C) arms.
He will drive out your enemies before you,^(D)
    saying, ‘Destroy them!’^(E)

⁸ “Surely the eyes of the Sovereign Lord
    are on the sinful kingdom.
I will destroy^(A) it
    from the face of the earth.
Yet I will not totally destroy
    the descendants of Jacob,”
declares the Lord.^(B)
9 “For I will give the command,
    and I will shake the people of Israel
    among all the nations
as grain^(C) is shaken in a sieve,^(D)
    and not a pebble will reach the ground.^(E)
