18 And Jacob came safely[a] to the city of (A)Shechem, which is in the land of Canaan, on his way from Paddan-aram, and he camped before the city. 19 And from the sons of (B)Hamor, Shechem's father, (C)he bought for a hundred pieces of money[b] the piece of land on which he had pitched his tent. 20 There he erected an altar and called it El-Elohe-Israel.[c]

There he set up camp outside the town. 19 Jacob bought the plot of land where he camped from the family of Hamor, the father of Shechem, for 100 pieces of silver.[a] 20 And there he built an altar and named it El-Elohe-Israel.[b]
