Genesis 25:20-24

New International Version

²⁰ and Isaac was forty years old^(A) when he married Rebekah^(B) daughter of Bethuel^(C) the Aramean from Paddan Aram^[a](D) and sister of Laban^(E) the Aramean.^(F)

²¹ Isaac prayed to the Lord on behalf of his wife, because she was childless.^(G) The Lord answered his prayer,^(H) and his wife Rebekah became pregnant. ²² The babies jostled each other within her, and she said, “Why is this happening to me?” So she went to inquire of the Lord.^(I)

²³ The Lord said to her,

²⁴ When the time came for her to give birth,^(L) there were twin boys in her womb.^(M)
