The Temptation and the Fall

3 Now the serpent was the most cunning of all the wild animals that the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God really say, ‘You can’t eat from any tree in the garden’?” ^(A)

³ Now go; I’m sending you out like lambs among wolves.^(A)

Paul’s Gracious Conclusion

¹⁹ The report of your obedience has reached everyone.^(A) Therefore I rejoice over you, but I want you to be wise about what is good, and yet innocent about what is evil.^(B)

¹⁵ so that you may be blameless^(A) and pure,^(B) children of God who are faultless^(C) in a crooked^(D) and perverted^(E) generation,^(F) among whom you shine like stars in the world,
