¹⁰ The scepter will not depart from Judah,^(A)
    nor the ruler’s staff from between his feet,^[a]
until he to whom it belongs^[b] shall come^(B)
    and the obedience of the nations shall be his.^(C)

⁷ Gilead^(A) is mine, and Manasseh is mine;
    Ephraim^(B) is my helmet,
    Judah^(C) is my scepter.^(D)

¹⁷ “I see him, but not now;
    I behold him, but not near.^(A)
A star will come out of Jacob;^(B)
    a scepter will rise out of Israel.^(C)
He will crush the foreheads of Moab,^(D)
    the skulls^[a](E) of^[b] all the people of Sheth.^[c]

⁵ “The days are coming,” declares the Lord,
    “when I will raise up for David^[a] a righteous Branch,^(A)
a King^(B) who will reign^(C) wisely
    and do what is just and right^(D) in the land.
⁶ In his days Judah will be saved
    and Israel will live in safety.^(E)
This is the name^(F) by which he will be called:
    The Lord Our Righteous Savior.^(G)

⁶ For to us a child is born,^(A)
    to us a son is given,^(B)
    and the government^(C) will be on his shoulders.^(D)
And he will be called
    Wonderful Counselor,^(E) Mighty God,^(F)
    Everlasting^(G) Father,^(H) Prince of Peace.^(I)

²² For the Lord is our judge,^(A)
    the Lord is our lawgiver,^(B)
the Lord is our king;^(C)
    it is he who will save^(D) us.
