¹⁵ But the Lord said to him, “Not so^[a]; anyone who kills Cain^(A) will suffer vengeance^(B) seven times over.^(C)” Then the Lord put a mark on Cain so that no one who found him would kill him.

⁴ and said to him, “Go throughout the city of Jerusalem^(A) and put a mark^(B) on the foreheads of those who grieve and lament^(C) over all the detestable things that are done in it.^(D)”

¹¹ And the smoke of their torment will rise for ever and ever.^(A) There will be no rest day or night^(B) for those who worship the beast and its image,^(C) or for anyone who receives the mark of its name.”^(D)

⁹ A third angel followed them and said in a loud voice: “If anyone worships the beast^(A) and its image^(B) and receives its mark on their forehead^(C) or on their hand,

⁶ Slaughter^(A) the old men, the young men and women, the mothers and children,^(B) but do not touch anyone who has the mark.^(C) Begin at my sanctuary.” So they began with the old men^(D) who were in front of the temple.^(E)

⁵² “Put your sword back in its place,” Jesus said to him, “for all who draw the sword will die by the sword.^(A)

⁴ Then the Lord said to Hosea, “Call him Jezreel,^(A) because I will soon punish the house of Jehu for the massacre at Jezreel, and I will put an end to the kingdom of Israel.
