²¹ But the Lord was with Joseph and showed him steadfast love; he gave him favor in the sight of the chief jailer.^(A)

²¹ I will bring this people into such favor with the Egyptians that, when you go, you will not go empty-handed;^(A)

¹⁷ For it is better to suffer for doing good, if suffering should be God’s will, than to suffer for doing evil.

³ The Lord gave the people favor in the sight of the Egyptians. Moreover, Moses himself was a man of great importance in the land of Egypt, in the sight of Pharaoh’s officials and in the sight of the people.^(A)

² The Lord was with Joseph, and he became a successful man; he was in the house of his Egyptian master.^(A)

⁹ “The patriarchs, jealous of Joseph, sold him into Egypt; but God was with him^{(A) 10} and rescued him from all his afflictions and enabled him to win favor and to show wisdom when he stood before Pharaoh, king of Egypt, who appointed him ruler over Egypt and over all his household.^(B)

¹⁴ If you are reviled for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the spirit of glory,^[a] which is the Spirit of God,^[b] is resting on you.^{[c](A) 15} But let none of you suffer as a murderer, a thief, a criminal, or even as a mischief maker.^{[d](B) 16} Yet if any of you suffers as a Christian, do not consider it a disgrace, but glorify God because you bear this name.^[e]

³¹ What then are we to say about these things? If God is for us, who is against us?^{(A) 32} He who did not withhold his own Son but gave him up for all of us, how will he not with him also give us everything else?
