¹⁰ Then the servant took ten of his master’s camels and departed, ^(A)for all his master’s goods were in his hand. And he arose and went to Mesopotamia, to ^(B)the city of Nahor.

^4 (A)because they did not meet you with bread and water on the road when you came out of Egypt, and ^(B)because they hired against you Balaam the son of Beor from Pethor of ^[a]Mesopotamia, to curse you.

³¹ And Terah ^(A)took his son Abram and his grandson Lot, the son of Haran, and his daughter-in-law Sarai, his son Abram’s wife, and they went out with them from ^(B)Ur of the Chaldeans to go to ^(C)the land of Canaan; and they came to Haran and dwelt there.

⁹ Parthians and Medes and Elamites, those dwelling in Mesopotamia, Judea and ^(A)Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia,

⁶ When the people of Ammon saw that they had made themselves repulsive to David, Hanun and the people of Ammon sent a thousand talents of silver to hire for themselves chariots and horsemen from ^[a]Mesopotamia, from Syrian Maacah, ^(A)and from ^[b]Zobah.

⁸ Therefore the anger of the Lord was hot against Israel, and He ^(A)sold them into the hand of ^(B)Cushan-Rishathaim king of Mesopotamia; and the children of Israel served Cushan-Rishathaim eight years. ⁹ When the children of Israel ^(C)cried out to the Lord, the Lord ^(D)raised up a deliverer for the children of Israel, who delivered them: ^(E)Othniel the son of Kenaz, Caleb’s younger brother. ^10 (F)The Spirit of the Lord came upon him, and he judged Israel. He went out to war, and the Lord delivered Cushan-Rishathaim king of Mesopotamia into his hand; and his hand prevailed over Cushan-Rishathaim.

²² And the keeper of the prison ^(A)committed to Joseph’s hand all the prisoners who were in the prison; whatever they did there, it was his doing. ²³ The keeper of the prison did not look into anything that was under ^[a]Joseph’s authority, because ^(B)the Lord was with him; and whatever he did, the Lord made it prosper.

⁸ But he refused and said to his master’s wife, “Look, my master does not know what is with me in the house, and he has committed all that he has to my hand. ⁹ There is no one greater in this house than I, nor has he kept back anything from me but you, because you are his wife. ^(A)How then can I do this great wickedness, and ^(B)sin against God?”

⁴ So Joseph ^(A)found favor in his sight, and served him. Then he made him ^(B)overseer of his house, and all that he had he put ^[a]under his authority. ⁵ So it was, from the time that he had made him overseer of his house and all that he had, that ^(C)the Lord blessed the Egyptian’s house for Joseph’s sake; and the blessing of the Lord was on all that he had in the house and in the field. ⁶ Thus he left all that he had in Joseph’s ^[b]hand, and he did not know what he had except for the ^[c]bread which he ate.

Now Joseph ^(D)was handsome in form and appearance.
